Ghevond Alishan (1820-1901 AD)

In the Armenian renaissance of the mid-nineteenth century, the Mkhitarists of Venice played a major role. Among the most important was Father Ghevond Alishan, whose works of poetry and history had great influence on young students who later became important Armenian writers and leaders.
