Catholicosate of Etchmiadzin Relocated to Hromgla (1149 AD)

With conditions in Etchmiadzin becoming increasingly difficult, the Catholicosate in 1149 relocated to Hromgla on the Euphrates River, where it remained for more than a hundred years. When the Mameluks sacked Hromgla in 1292, looted the sacred sites, and took Catholicos Stepannos IV captive, the Catholicosate moved to Sis.
