Panos Pastry is one of the most popular bakeries in Los Angeles. Panos Pastry makes and sells
Armenian, Middle Eastern and French pastries, cookies and famous Jovina's chocolates.
Owners Panos and Alberta Zetlian (Jovina's parents), started out in 1953 with their first bakery, "Patisserie
Panos", in Beirut, Lebanon. Panos made the pastries and Alberta sold them with the help of one employee. Their small shop on Arax street grew in 14 years to become a two-story bakery and restaurant with 30 employees.
In 1981, the Zetlian's and partner son-in-law, Norik Shahbazian, and their daughter Jovina moved to California and opened Panos Pastry in a small storefront in Hollywood (Little Armenia). Ten years later, Panos Pastry expanded to occupy a second storefront, opened a retail outlet in the city of Glendale, bought their own land for their bakery and employed 42 people.
