Noah's Ark Lands In Little Armenia
January 19, 2003 - Rose & Alex Pilibos Armenian School unveiled it's new state-of-the-art gymnasium and
library complex in the Little Armenia District of Hollywood. The architects of the complex were
on hand to explain their creative design of the Noah's Ark Library. According to
Armenian lore, it is believed that the biblical Noah's Ark landed on Mt. Ararat, which sits atop historic Armenian
lands, and the Armenian people were descendants of Noah.
In attendance were hundreds of Armenian community leaders, parents, and students, as well as national luminaries Steve Samuelian
(California State Assemblyman), Ken Hachikian (Armenian National Committee of America Chairman),
and Aram Hamparian (ANCA Executive Director). The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted by Bishop
Moushegh Mardirossian and school principal Viken Yacoubian. Funding for the project was mainly garnered
through generous donors, including billionaire Kirk Kerkorian's Lincy Foundation.
